Steppin' was one of two mock ups made in response to a poster competition
among students in our college Illustrator class. Although mine did not
win, I was very pleased with what I learned.
High Steppin' was made using a scanned photo converted into a template and then traced over and painted. Templates are used as guides...sometimes for drawing and other times for placement of objects/text on pages that repeat design elements located in the same area of each page. They are very useful tools for creating original artwork and for complying with a set page layout format quickly and easily.

Time Band Review is the second mock up for the band review poster competion.
This poster utilized both Photoshop and Illustrator. The trumpet player
was a photo downloaded from a band uniform site into Photoshop.
After the photo was optimized, a filter was applied and a mask made so the figure would have a transparent background. With a transparent background, the gradient created in Illustrator is seen. Without a mask, imported photos arrive with an opaque, white bounding box surrounding the figure.
Rim Rock Computer is a poster that promotes
a computer repair business. Both Photoshop and Illustrator were used to
create the finished product.
The dragonfly was a photograph of a broach scanned from a book. It was optimized and altered through the use of color changes and filters.
