The
Rest of the Story
Once upon a time,
A princess met a toad.
We are all familiar
With how the story goes.
Her tender kiss transformed him
Into a handsome prince,
But little have we heard
Of what happened to them since.
A nasty rumor spread about
That the Princess threw her Prince out!
'Tis time for the truth to unfold
As the facts of the story are finally told!
Let's set the record straight today,
The rest of the story went this way.
After they were married,
She found her Prince to be untrue.
He betrayed his royal Princess
With common wenches! What a fool!
Her feelings changed from love to hate
Revenge became her crippling fate
No more betrayal or endless lies .
Soon he'd wish that he could die!
It did not take her very long
To set her plan in place
She paid a witch to do a switch
That changed his handsome face.
Smooth, youthful skin turned oddly old
Then he shriveled up into a hapless toad!
He jumped; he croaked; he hopped in vain,
But he'd driven his Princess quite insane.
No pleas for mercy nor regrets,
Persuaded his Princess to forget.
She locked him in a guilded cage,
Along with all her hurt and utter rage.
Her eyes went blank with solitude,
And all they said she'd ever do,
Was keep his cage clean and dry,
And hand feed him king-sized flies,
They say she never kissed her Prince again,
He died a toad and that's the end!
